Choose your room in Williamsburg: 5 cool things about Williamsburg.

Williamsburg is one of the coolest and most popular neighborhoods in Brooklyn. The neighborhood has become extremely popular with the young, hip, and artist communities since its rezoning in 2005.

Located along the East River, Williamsburg gives a scenic view of the Manhattan horizon. The neighborhood also has a lot of things to offer at every corner, from artist murals, trendy shops, and amazing entertainment spots.

Here are 5 cool things why students can choose their room in Williamsburg.

History

If you’re a history enthusiast, a room in Williamsburg could be your perfect place. The City Reliquary Museum is suitable if you want to learn more about artifacts, cultural events, and historic collections.

This museum includes a permanent collection of building pieces from landmarks, vintage postcards, and other artifacts from all over New York.

Recreational Parks

Williamsburg is not short of amazing spots for you to enjoy the outdoors. There are plenty of green spaces away from the urban blocks where you can enjoy a fresh breath of air.

The Domino Park has to be the most recent addition to these green spaces. This 5-acre park was opened to the public in 2018. It’s named after the Domino Sugar Refinery that sat on this very spot. This park is dog-friendly.

The McCarren Park is another incredible outdoor space to relax. This 35-acre space might not be as famous as other parks in the area, but this doesn’t make it any short of amazing. Other than the awesome basketball courts and baseball fields, this park also has barbecuing areas where you can enjoy a great time with family and friends.

Shopping & Flea Markets

The Brooklyn Flea is one of the most popular shopping attractions in Williamsburg. It runs every Saturday from the first weekend of April to October. In this market, you can expect to find various works from different vendors and artists. You can buy items, such as furniture, jewelry, and vintage pieces, among other collectibles.

Other markets include Catbird, which features various types of jewelry, and Monk Vintage, that’s a thrift store for vintage shopping.

Good Food

If you appreciate great food, Williamsburg will take your breath away. You’ll find trendy eateries alongside iconic destinations that have been around since time immemorial. For example, Bamonte’s Restaurant has been in existence since 1900. It features delicious Bolognese sauce, which you can have with spaghetti, gnocchi, or tortellini.

After a meal, you can visit Partners Coffee, known for its cold brew. It has a warehouse appeal and you can watch coffee getting roasted. You can also learn about homebrew methods from their brew school.

Art

The Brooklyn Art Library is one of the largest sketchbook collections on the entire globe. It includes a collection of sketchbooks sourced from over 130 countries. This library collects different works from all artists. If you’re a sketch artist or doodler you can leave behind your work after a visit.

The 17 Frost is a former garage turned into an art gallery that has been hosting art events since 2006. The Journal Gallery is another art space that focuses on elevating new and mid-career artists.
